About Heather

Heather Baines is the founder of Roots of Wellness Ayurveda. As a cooperative of Ayurvedic practitioners, Heather partnered with Terra Rafael of Wise Womanhood in 2014, and later expanded to include Ayurvedic bodywork and pancha karma body therapies. Today Heather offers her services at two exceptional Ayurvedic facilities in the Boulder, Colorado area:

  • The ritual healing space at Lalita Soma Ayurveda provides Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Therapies and bodywork under the deeply intuitive, sensual, and healing hands of Sabrina Dokas. Heather Baines is honored to practice with Sabrina, offering Ayurvedic healthcare and Core Synchronism treatments at their Boulder, CO office in the historic home of Duggan Chiropractic at 2439 Broadway Street.
  • At the anointing sanctuary of Soma Mountain Rejuvenation you can book yourself a pancha karma retreat in a group or private setting. Pancha karma healing retreats are offered in Longmont, CO and Joshua Tree, CA, under the care of Dr. Ashley and Heather Marie. Heather Baines offers her care to take you deeper into your daily dina– and rutucharya (daily and seasonal practices) prior to or upon completion of pancha karma, to help solve medical mysteries, and to further accelerate the deep healing of Ayurveda.

Heather Baines AD RAAP Founder and Managing Director Roots of Wellness AyurvedaFollowing a deep inner sense, Heather discovered Ayurveda nearly 20 years ago, after watching her father fight and succumb to a rare form of cancer. As she brought food to nourish him, and to nourish her family as they cared for him, his fight reminded her that not all is war. Health and healing must be a conscious act of consistent care, focus, diligent practice and attention. She likens her discovery of Ayurveda to a “remembering,” which led her to reclaim her lineage, to work with and through past generations of family traumas, and to retune her relationships, under the vision and purpose of becoming a healthy grandmother to a healthy family. At 27 years old, in her first trimester pregnant with her daughter, she declared this vital purpose and intention to break the patterns and cycles of intergenerational trauma which existed within her family structure.

The ocean of knowledge and bliss that is the practice of Ayurveda reminds Heather that she is one with nature, a Divine expression of wisdom, of what simply is, and that her purpose is to be with, to acknowledge, and to work towards flow, balance, and harmony among seeming opposites. In Ayurveda these opposites show up in the expression of the doshas, in the fundamental qualities of the traditional five elements, in their dance, as they form matter, in their dynamism, and in their expansive silence. Her mother has always reminded her, “we live in a fluid environment.” Heather has discovered that the health of the body, of our mental state, of our relationships, and of our spiritual practices relies on both flow and stillness, of expansiveness and containment, of action and receptivity.

These states are experienced by every human being. When we find ourselves too reliant on one state at the expense of the others, illness and disease follow. The masculine and the feminine, the engaged and the passive, the thinker and the doer, the producer and the caregiver – it is our work as human beings to find the right rhythm, right timing, and right space to live into the fullness of who we came to be, to be the best, the highest, the most authentic and joyful version of who we are – to find a harmony among all of these states of human being-ness.

It is my honor and privilege to walk a ways with you, on your healing path, on your path of becoming.
